As cyber threats to critical infrastructure grow more sophisticated, securing pipeline operations at the edge—where IT and OT converge—is more critical than ever. This webinar, hosted by Pipeline & Gas Journal in partnership with Penguin Solutions, brings together industry experts from Fortinet, Claroty, and Trace3. They will explore best practices for strengthening cybersecurity in distributed pipeline environments while bridging IT and OT security gaps.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Key vulnerabilities in pipeline edge infrastructure and the risks of IT/OT convergence
  • Strategies for mitigating cyber threats while ensuring operational continuity
  • Best practices for integrating Edge Computing into a unified IT/OT cybersecurity framework
  • Real-world case studies on securing interconnected IT and OT environments

Whether you're an IT or OT professional, security specialist, or pipeline operator, this session will provide actionable insights to help you strengthen cybersecurity at the edge while enabling seamless IT/OT integration.

Join us for an exclusive webcast, during which Gulf Energy Information's expert editors will deliver deep insights into President Trump’s policies' impact on global energy markets. This webcast will explore recent shifts in U.S. energy policies and their global repercussions. Key topics include regulatory changes, adjustments in subsidies and taxes, and potential impacts on the oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors worldwide.

We will explore the ramifications of the U.S. emerging as a net energy exporter and its impact on global supply chains, as well as evolving trade relations and geopolitical alliances with major oil players like OPEC, Russia, and China. The webcast will also examine energy security, geopolitical risks, and emerging trends in renewable energy investments.

Additional discussions will focus on technological innovation, energy transition, and the role of AI in adapting to policy changes. Finally, we’ll explore how these developments may influence future energy prices, demand, and the overall market landscape.

As global energy demands surge and HVAC transmission capacities increase through reconductoring and other advancements, the integrity of buried metallic pipelines faces significant threats. Induced alternating current (AC) and high direct current (DC) potentials in pipelines—often caused by proximity to high-voltage power lines—pose complex challenges to cathodic protection systems and pipeline coatings. These currents can lead to coating degradation phenomena such as undercutting, shielding, pH changes, and accelerated corrosion, compromising long-term pipeline integrity.

This presentation will address:

  • The mechanisms through which AC and high DC potentials interact with pipeline coatings and cathodic protection systems, leading to coating disbondment, accelerated corrosion, and hydrogen embrittlement.
  • The detrimental effects of AC-induced corrosion, which can result in rapid localized damage and through-wall failures in as little as six months, and the exacerbating role of modern reconductoring techniques, which double HVAC transmission capacities without the need for new infrastructure or permits.
  • The critical need for regulatory and industry collaboration in establishing more comprehensive communication and monitoring practices between HVAC and pipeline operators, particularly in shared rights-of-way corridors. Effective collaboration can mitigate unforeseen risks posed by increased transmission loads that pipeline operators may not have been made aware of.

This webcast will discuss the deployment of piggable dual in-line isolation tools for valve replacement work on a 36” natural gas pipeline in North America. Discover the project benefits which included, increased pipeline safety, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and minimized operational downtime and pipeline outage.

The presentation will introduce the scope of work, including the decision-making factors which led to the use of in-line isolation tools over traditional methods, to provide the necessary isolation requirements for pipeline repair work. Further details will be shared highlighting the pre-deployment planning work and considerations of using an-line isolation tool, including how an isolation tool functions and provides a provable, monitorable isolation.

Finally, the deployment of the in-line isolation tools will be summarized and how they successfully isolated the 36” natural gas pipeline to allow safe replacement of launcher and receiver valves.

Pipeline owners and operators are increasingly leveraging data by moving more workloads to the edge, but with increase edge comes an increased attack surface. Recent headlines are a clear indicator that the bad actor sees the oil and gas sector as a target for sophisticated cyberattacks. Given the increase in digital connectivity, this has elevated the importance of cyber readiness and shines a light on the importance of the safety and security of the assets.

During this panel discussion, experts will discuss strategies for preparing for, responding to and recovering from cyberattacks as a part of any business continuity plan.

  • Understanding the risks associated across the expanding oil and gas attack surface
  • Evaluating the cybersecurity needs to support modern and legacy SCADA platforms across oil and gas facilities
  • Best practice guidance for leaders to support a cybersecurity program that focused on the safety and security of critical assets
